There is great diversity in the tradition of jewelries that are available in India. This is because of India is a land of variety. Every state of India has a unique style of making jewelry. From east to west, north to south the variety differs but the grace of ornaments remains and retains its value. The tribal states of India have their own different style of making jewelry.
These jewelry styles in India are different in each and every state and are being differentiated by various regions, people and culture. The making of jewelry in India is considered as an art. Nowadays classical styles have being seeing a comeback with different brand names.

Delhi- Capital of India
The various styles of making and wearing jewelry were brought in India by mughals. They are in fashion till now. These styles are made keeping in focus the designs inspired from nature. The mughals jewelry is known to have jadau work and is being passed from hand to hand. Various things used in ornaments are birds, wines, leaves and flowers.
Rajasthan
Kundan is a semi opaque crystal that is being surrounded by metal leaf. They emboss gem stones especially Kinden’s to make beautiful jewelry. This was originated by mughals as mentioned above and now is a spatiality of artists of jaipur. This kind of jewelry is also known as kundan jadau.
Another form of Rajasthan jewelry is Meenakari. This is an art of fusing metals of different colors having layers. Most commonly layers are of colors green, blue and red.
There is a rare art of Rajasthan’s artists in which glass is surrounded by gold. This art is called theva. In this different color especially red, green and blue are used to make foils which are attached below the glass which highlights the gold and thus gives an amazing look of the ornament.
Gujarat
Broada city is famous in for producing jewelry having beautiful dull red copper finish. This kind of work is known as gheru style.
Guajarati’s also make ornaments from uncut diamonds. This jewelry is known as polka.
Bengal
Bengal is also a large manufacture of jewelry in India. They make designs and pattern using thin silver wires which are twisted among them to make jewelry. This kind of jewelry is known as filigree.
Andhra Pradesh and Orissa also make these types of jewelry.
Tamil nadu
Some jewelry consist of 22 carat gold and various precious and semi precious stones. This is the specialty of south Indians (Nagercoil). This type of jewelry is known as temple jewelry. Initially this jewelry was used to adore gods and goddesses in temple as the name tells. Now these are worn by dancers while performing. These deign and styles are nature inspired.
